Signiant’s 2024 Year-End Message

As 2024 draws to a close, I want to take the opportunity to personally thank our customers and colleagues for the amazing support that Signiant enjoys from the media industry.

We appreciate the fact that you trust our software to move valuable content around the world, and we take our commitments to security, reliability, and privacy very seriously. Signiant continues to invest in these areas. We joined the TPN in 2023 and achieved SOC2 compliance in 2024, and we’re continually adding new features to support our customers’ content security efforts. We regularly engage with stakeholders throughout the industry to address the practical issues that arise from evolving threats, and it’s great to see sustained levels of cooperation as we all work together to stay ahead of this ongoing challenge.

My team and I are also grateful for the collaborative spirit that our media customers bring to technological innovation. As early multi-tenant SaaS pioneers, we asked media professionals to come on a journey with us toward best practices within the general-purpose information technology world. There were some rough spots along the way, but together we have landed in a place where the benefits of SaaS are undisputed, and the Signiant Platform is consistently delivering value as the industry standard. We’re proud to have played a key role in modernizing software delivery within the industry, something that required keeping a sharp eye on the forces of history while accommodating media-specific needs and supporting a manageable pace of adoption.

We’re now working on the next wave of innovation, leveraging our SaaS platform and the ubiquity of Signiant-connected storage to expand into media services that are logically adjacent to file transfer. Customers have pulled us toward the increasing challenge of finding and interacting with media assets, a broad problem space that has outgrown the capabilities of legacy media asset management systems. The Signiant development team has responded with a new SaaS offering called Media Engine, a lightweight form of “ingest-free, MAM-less MAM” with next-generation features such as federated search across storage types, on-demand proxies, and partial restore from the cloud. This unique tool is hitting a sweet spot in this era of intense focus on cost and efficiency, and it’s exciting to see the broad array of use cases that our customers are coming up with.

The next step in our platform strategy is to transform the way that content fulfillment pipelines are built. Throughout the industry, “media supply chain” initiatives have moved workflows to the cloud and enabled cross-platform delivery — but no one can claim that these systems are truly scalable, resilient, and cost effective. We’re working closely with lighthouse customers on a productized approach to process automation, bringing the power of the Signiant SaaS platform to a mission-critical part of the media tech stack that is ripe for disruption.

The industry’s embrace of Signiant’s innovations is one of the reasons I’m optimistic about the future. It is an understatement to say that the past few years have been challenging; the media business has been under siege from market forces, labor issues, and the AI boogeyman. While the obstacles can’t be underestimated, I’m confident that this turmoil will lead to another wave of transformation and new opportunities across the industry. All of the participants in this market are masters of creative thinking; we embrace change and push the boundaries every day. I look forward to seeing how our industry will find its way through the current challenges and thank all of you again for your confidence and partnership as we move onward into 2025.
