Unifying the Signiant Platform: A Product Management Perspective

In our Day 1 blog, Unifying the Platform to Streamline Content Flow, we highlighted how the Signiant Platform brings it all together — Media Shuttle, Jet, Flight Deck and Media Engine — to solve complex media workflows and make companies more secure and efficient. We extended that conversation with our product managers, exploring what a unified platform can do and how the themes and advancements of 2024 lay the foundation for exciting 2025 innovations.

As noted in our conversation with the account executives, customers are finding great value in bringing all operations under one roof.  In 2024, we continued to invest in uniting the platform and centralizing products and services in meaningful ways. In 2025, the product team is focused on expanding on that in several areas and leveraging that investment to bring new capabilities to the platform.

The Signiant Platform is built around the concept of a unified experience, where the combined capabilities of its products deliver greater value than the individual components alone. Its single-pane-of-glass interface enables administrators and users to seamlessly view and manage all Signiant products in one place, reducing complexity and streamlining workflows across teams and departments.

“Customers are really seeing the value of having the platform as a single pane of glass,” said Natasha Tse, Product Manager for Media Shuttle. “As customers look for efficiencies, being able to manage all content exchange from a single place is a big win.”

This integration ensures a seamless experience, empowering customers to streamline operations and enhance collaboration.

“Everything we’ve done has been with the goal of consolidation in mind. Whether we’re adding features to Jet or Media Shuttle,” said Mona Noor, Product Manager for Jet. “We’re really building on the unified platform so all products can take advantage of those enhancements.”

The “pane of glass” approach isn’t just about visibility — it’s about security.

Security has been a big theme this year,” said VP of Product Management Jennifer Morin. “Customers of all sizes are buckling down and prioritizing this.”

A unified platform improves security and security administration. Customers are increasingly focused on protecting their content, and Signiant responded with enhancements designed to meet these demands.

“We’re consolidating storage, users, and interfaces to make things safer for customers. There’s a lot of investment going into that right now that will become visible in 2025,” Tse said.

Key advancements in 2024 included introducing features that simplify workflows and increase security and flexibility.

The introduction of a ‘view-only’ user role in both Jet and Flight Deck is an essential step toward building a truly unified platform. By enabling tailored access levels, Signiant ensures that more team members can engage with the platform in ways that align with their specific roles, without compromising security or overwhelming administrative workflows.

As Mona Noor explained, “The view-only role allows more users to access Jet while giving our Jet admins more flexibility.” This flexibility supports a diverse range of users within organizations, empowering teams to collaborate effectively while maintaining centralized control.

Wazim Noorah, Flight Deck Product Manager, highlighted the broader vision by noting that a similar role is coming to Flight Deck, further standardizing this approach across the platform.

“That separate access between operations, administrators and users aligns with our commitment to providing secure access control across the platform,” he said.

All this great work has set us up for a really exciting 2025, where enabling the platform to take advantage of metadata in new ways will be a central theme.

“The platform will increasingly use metadata for more actions — triggering tasks, routing files to specific locations — and to support complex use cases like camera-to-cloud and validation of inbound content,” Jennifer Morin said.

Signiant is introducing a new mechanism to add metadata to the platform in early 2025 with a unique approach that is both powerful and flexible. Signiant has always been committed to storage independence and our approach to metadata builds on that same philosophy to give customers control over where and how metadata is stored. The Signiant Platform doesn’t serve as the authority for metadata; instead, Signiant connects to customers’ metadata sources and supports efficient access and interaction.

“We’re not trying to be the long-term repository for metadata,” explained Savva Mueller, Director of Platform Management, “but we’re making it easier to work with metadata from third-party systems across the platform.” The new approach will enrich search and display in Media Engine and enable new automations and actions.

And new services coming to the platform in 2025!

“We’re developing new platform services to address specific needs in the media pipeline,” said Mueller. “There’s a whole pipeline between delivery and ingest where customers currently rely on complex, expensive tools. We’re aiming to simplify those workflows and reduce the time spent on manual processes, and metadata is a part of that.”

As 2025 approaches, Signiant’s platform strategy is setting the stage for a more efficient and secure media supply chain. By integrating capabilities across Media Shuttle, Jet, Flight Deck, and Media Engine and expanding on our metadata capabilities, Signiant is enabling richer search, dynamic automation, and streamlined operations. With improved security measures, flexible user roles, and a single pane of glass that unites all of its products, Signiant is clearing the path for customers to meet tomorrow’s challenges with confidence and agility.
