The Signiant Platform is an integrated set of SaaS products that make media content flow easier and more efficient. The platform is built on a fast file transfer foundation already used by the world’s top media makers. And unlike any other media-focused platform, the Signiant Platform connects 50,000 companies of all sizes and over 1 million users.
Signiant's History
Signiant has a rich history of pioneering advanced file transfer solutions for some of the world’s largest companies. Initially built to move massive code bases across the globe for software development, Signiant’s technology quickly became essential wherever large datasets required secure, reliable, and fast transfers. The Media & Entertainment industry was an early adopter, as Signiant’s software became indispensable during the mid-2000s shift from videotape and film to file-based workflows. Leading enterprises like Disney, NBC, and Apple iTunes integrated Signiant’s on-premises solutions into their global infrastructures, establishing the company as a trusted partner in media.
In 2012, Signiant revolutionized the market with Media Shuttle, the first cloud-native SaaS solution for fast, secure file transfers of any size worldwide. Scalable for both small post houses and global media companies, Media Shuttle made Signiant’s advanced technology accessible to companies of all sizes.
Building on this success, Signiant introduced Flight (now part of Flight Deck) in 2014, which accelerated the transfer of large datasets to and from the cloud, crucial for multi-location content ingestion projects. This innovation also allowed Signiant to integrate cloud storage into Media Shuttle, expanding its role in cloud-based workflows.
The launch of Jet in 2019 further extended Signiant’s SaaS offerings, simplifying system-to-system workflows across global locations and partners. Initially designed for SMBs and simpler use cases, Jet quickly earned accolades, including Product of the Year at the NAB Show and from TV Technology. Jet’s intelligent, adaptive transport mechanism, which leverages machine learning, ensures optimal performance across varied network conditions.
Following acquisitions of Levels Beyond (Reach Engine) and Lesspain, Signiant introduced Media Engine in 2022, a modern media management service embedded within the Signiant Platform. Media Engine enables customers to search, preview, and take action on media assets across all Signiant-connected storage, enhancing accessibility and workflow flexibility. Recognized with TVB Europe’s 2022 Best in Market Award, Media Engine underscores Signiant’s commitment to fast, secure, and universal access to content.
Today, Signiant continues to expand the power of its platform with innovations that drive seamless content flow, tackle industry challenges, and simplify content creation, solidifying its role as a trusted leader in media and entertainment.
Why Signiant?
Signiant distinguishes itself with a unique SaaS architecture that offers unparalleled flexibility, scalability and storage independence. Unlike other solutions tied to specific storage providers, Signiant’s architecture enables seamless integration with on-premises file and object storage, including leading public cloud platforms like Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud Platform. This approach fully supports hybrid storage models, allowing businesses to blend on-premises and cloud storage to suit their operational needs and optimize costs.
For customers, this means they can leverage the Signiant Platform’s robust enterprise-grade SaaS tools and services, including secure access, comprehensive operational control, and advanced reporting — without compromising on storage choice or ownership. The platform’s secure web interface provides global access to assets, allowing teams to manage and transfer files effortlessly, regardless of where the data resides. By keeping storage decisions in the hands of the customer, Signiant ensures that companies benefit from powerful SaaS capabilities while maintaining full control over their infrastructure, security protocols, and data management costs.
This combination of flexibility and independence empowers media companies, content creators, and enterprises alike to maintain cost efficiency, enhance workflow performance, and scale operations dynamically. With Signiant, organizations get the best of both worlds: the reach and efficiency of cloud-native SaaS coupled with the freedom to use storage that aligns with their strategic objectives.
