Harbor Picture Company Upgrades to Signiant Media Shuttle to Support Expanding Global Production Business
Enables Fast File Movement Between Distributed Teams for “Game of Thrones,” “St. Vincent,” “Into the Woods,” and “A Most Violent Year”
BURLINGTON, MA – April 13, 2015 – Signiant, the market leader in intelligent file movement software, today announced that premiere New York-based production and post production firm Harbor Picture Company has adopted Media Shuttle™ to move large media files quickly, easily and securely between its worldwide customers and partners. Harbor, whose credits include acclaimed television shows and films such as “Game of Thrones,” “St. Vincent,” “Into the Woods,” “Pawn Sacrifice,” “Marco Polo,” and “A Most Violent Year,” uses Signiant for many of its critical file transfers.
Harbor previously used a variety of other file transfer solutions, including an internal FTP server, online file-sharing services, and other acceleration products. As the company grew to five offices across New York City and expanded their ecosystem of clients and partners around the world – while increasingly working with 4K files – the limitations of these offerings became clear. FTP servers are not user friendly, online file-sharing services struggle with big files, and first-generation acceleration products are unnecessarily complex to deploy and configure. Harbor required a more cost effective, simple and scalable solution that would allow for seamless collaboration.
“We tried many different file transfer solutions but found that none fit our needs. We chose Media Shuttle, which was recommended as a leading solution that offers a client-friendly user experience,” said Zak Tucker, President of Harbor Picture Company. “We have now come to rely on Signiant to easily and quickly move all of our content files, and are confident that the solution will continue to scale with us as our business expands.”
Harbor adopted Media Shuttle last year and immediately realized that it was significantly more reliable, user-friendly and lower maintenance than any other solution it had tried. Using Media Shuttle, Harbor was able to quickly set up new accounts, which had been a laborious process with other solutions. And more importantly, Harbor is now able to easily send their largest media files, even as big as 500 GB, in far less time. With Media Shuttle, Harbor has streamlined collaborative workflows and can more easily manage working simultaneously on multiple productions worldwide with major studios and television networks.
“With huge files and increasingly global workflows, the production and post production industries are perfectly suited to harness the power of Media Shuttle’s patented hybrid SaaS architecture,” said Mike Nash, Director of Product Management, Signiant. “Creative professionals gravitate to the great user experience and fast transfer speeds, while their IT colleagues appreciate Shuttle’s enterprise class security and storage independence. Leading-edge companies like Harbor Picture Company are gaining a competitive edge by adopting this next-generation SaaS solution as they scale their businesses and expand around the world. ”
