Large file movement solution provider continues strong momentum, invests in cloud platform, bolsters management team
Burlington, MA (March 19, 2014) – Signiant, the market leader in intelligent file movement software, today disclosed key growth metrics for 2013 and offered further insight into the Company’s recent market momentum. Executives report a 65 percent increase in customer count and a 46 percent increase in worldwide employment, attributable to rapid adoption of Signiant’s next-generation hybrid SaaS solution and clear recognition of the Company’s leadership position in bringing the benefits of cloud technology to the media industry.
Signiant signed a significant number of marquee customer names in 2013, reflecting the continued high demand for solutions that can move the largest of rich media files. New customers include Al Jazeera, a global broadcast network; Intronis, a provider of world-class cloud backup solutions for the IT channel; Nielsen Media Research, a provider of media research and consulting services to the media and entertainment industry; Nokia, a global leader in mobile communications; Smoke & Mirrors, a visual effects and post-production company; and WCP Media Services, an entertainment software and services company.
“Demand continues to grow for solutions that can move large files quickly, efficiently and cost-effectively, and the time was ripe for a next-generation platform that takes advantage of new technology,” said Margaret Craig, CEO of Signiant. “In the cloud era, Signiant’s innovative solutions are in a class of their own. It’s exciting to see both existing and new customers experience the benefits of our new platform, and broad industry adoption positions the Company for continued growth in the years ahead.”
Signiant’s solutions, used today by most of the world’s top broadcasters, studios, media service providers, sports networks and game developers, facilitate the movement of large media files – from pre-production content and mobile news to finished-format movies, trailers and TV episodics – between users, applications and systems with proven ease and security. Used for mission-critical applications throughout the global media and entertainment ecosystem, Signiant’s hybrid SaaS solution Media Shuttle alone was used to move nearly 500 Terabytes of data in its first year on the market.
Signiant increased the size of its workforce by 46 percent in 2013, with the Boston area headquarters growing by 140 percent. The company made major investments in its management team in 2013 by hiring Adam Feinzig as chief financial officer and Greg Hoskin as new managing director for the EMEA and APAC regions, and promoting Katie Staveley to vice president of marketing.
On the engineering side, Signiant continued to invest heavily in its product suite in 2013. The company introduced CloudSpeX, a new software application that helps broadcasters and production professionals save substantial time and resources by easily validating media file delivery formats prior to transfer. Signiant also added file sharing capabilities to its award-winning Media Shuttle file transfer solution, allowing multiple users to easily upload and download content from a shared file system and providing a drop-in replacement for FTP systems. Additional products and further enhancements to the Signiant Cloud platform are due to be announced later this year.
Signiant will be exhibiting at the NAB Show in Las Vegas, NV, April 7-10 at Booth #SL9716. Click here to book a meeting with us.
