Take our File Transfer Calculator for a drive. Though we don’t offer options for every city and bandwidth, you can easily get a sense of the performance improvement you gain with Signiant products. Play around with different file sizes, bandwidth and locations. Note that the larger the file size, the higher the bandwidth and the further the location, the more you will benefit by using Signiant’s file acceleration technology. Of course, real-world results may vary depending on your specific network configuration.
Accelerated File Transfer
Acceleration is at the heart of what we do, but there is a lot more to it. From on-premises solutions to cloud-native SaaS, the way accelerated file transfer is supported and delivered makes all the difference. If you switch to accelerated file transfer, all associated businesses can speed up. You can get content into all of the right hands more quickly and focus on production and revenue. With Signiant, you never have to sacrifice quality to move quantity.
The technology we developed to accelerate file transfers is often called User Datagram Protocol (UDP) acceleration. But the phrase doesn’t quite capture it. We’ve implemented both an advanced transmission control protocol on top of UDP as a replacement for TCP and an advanced accelerated file transfer protocol as a replacement for FTP. What does that mean? Simply, that means each of Signiant’s products leverages our core accelerated file transfer technology, which improves standard Internet transmission speeds up to 100 fold and is increasingly impactful with longer distances, higher bandwidth and more congested networks.
To make UDP reliable, Signiant adds functionality similar to TCP, but Signiant’s transfer control protocol is implemented in a far more performant way, using:
- Flow control — makes sure data is transmitted at the optimal rate for the receiver
- Congestion control — detects when the network is being overloaded and adapts accordingly
- Reliability mechanisms — ensures that data loss due to congestion or other network factors are compensated for and that the order of the stream of data is maintained
Our software ensures fast, secure movement of large data sets over any IP network, in any hybrid cloud or multi-cloud environment, with comprehensive control and visibility at any scale. We provide foundational technology that enables content exchange within and between companies of all sizes to connect the global media supply chain. The unique hybrid architecture of Signiant’s Software-Defined Content Exchange (SDCX) SaaS platform provides people and systems with access to media assets located across disparate and distributed storage repositories — and lays the groundwork for innovations that extend beyond file transfer.
